How the estimate is calculated
Each board's reference energy economy is derived from its own hardware: Wh per km = (battery Wh × 95% usable) ÷ rated range, measured at the industry test condition of roughly a 70 kg rider on smooth flat tar at moderate speed in mild weather.
Your estimate rescales that economy with four physical factors: mass (rolling resistance and acceleration energy grow almost linearly with rider + board weight - aerodynamic drag doesn't, so weight is blended at 75%), terrain (coarse asphalt and stop-start city riding raise rolling losses ~20%; hills and rough ground ~55%, since climbing energy is only partly recovered by regenerative braking), speed (air drag rises with the square of speed - full-throttle riding costs ~45% more energy per km than cruising), and battery condition (lithium-ion packs deliver less usable capacity in cold weather and lose a few percent per year of cycling).
Estimated km = rated km × (temperature factor × age factor) ÷ (mass factor × terrain factor × speed factor)
The result is shown with a ±10% band because wind, tyre pressure equivalents, road camber and throttle habits vary ride to ride.

Choosing a board
I've never ridden an e-skate. Which board should I start on?
The Nova. It's 4 kg light, tops out at a friendly speed, has four speed modes so you can grow into it, and the built-in deck handle makes it easy to carry. If you already skate and want more, the Phantom is the natural step up.
I'm a heavier rider - which boards will carry me properly?
The Spartan and Relentless are both rated to 150 kg with the power to actually hold speed on hills at that load. The Phantom and DNASkate V4 carry up to 120 kg. Heavier riders should always size up on motor power - a board at its weight limit loses range and climbing ability fast.
What's the real difference between hub motors and belt drives?
Hub motors (Nova, Phantom, Spartan, DNASkate V4) sit inside the wheel - quieter, near-zero maintenance, and you can kick-push if the battery dies. Belt drives (Relentless) put the motor beside the wheel with a gear reduction - more torque for climbing and off-road, at the cost of some noise and occasional belt replacement.
Which board is best for daily commuting?
Match the board to your round trip with buffer: under 10 km round trip, the Nova works; 10-25 km, the Phantom or DNASkate V4; beyond that, the Spartan's 720 Wh pack means you charge every few days instead of every night. Use the Range Lab on our Buying Help page to model your exact commute.
Can I try before I buy?
We're a small Joburg crew rather than a chain, but message us on WhatsApp - when stock and timing line up we can often arrange a demo session in Johannesburg.
How accurate are the rated range figures?
Rated ranges are measured with a ±70 kg rider on flat smooth ground at moderate speed - real rides vary with weight, terrain, speed, temperature and battery age. That's exactly what the Range Lab above models: put in your numbers and plan on the realistic figure, not the brochure one.
Should I buy the biggest battery I can afford?
Not always. Bigger packs mean more range but more weight - a 13-16 kg board is a different life to a 4 kg one if you carry it upstairs or on the Gautrain. Buy for your actual routes with ~30% buffer, not for the one epic ride a year.
Ordering & delivery
How long does delivery take?
We ship with The Courier Guy: typically 1-3 working days to main centres (Joburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban) and 2-5 working days to regional areas, from the moment your order leaves the warehouse. You'll get a waybill number to track the moment it's collected.
Where do you ship from - and do you ship outside SA?
All stock ships from our warehouse in Johannesburg. We currently deliver anywhere in South Africa. For neighbouring countries, contact us first - lithium battery shipping rules across borders are strict, so it's case-by-case.
How can I track my order?
Use the Track Order page with your waybill number, or the link in your dispatch email. If anything looks stuck for more than a day, WhatsApp us and we'll chase the courier directly.
Is it safe to courier lithium batteries?
Yes - our boards ship in protective packaging that meets courier requirements for lithium-ion goods, and every pack has BMS protection against short circuit and over-discharge in transit.
Warranty & returns
What warranty do the boards carry?
Every board carries a local SA warranty covering manufacturing defects on the motor, ESC, battery and remote, handled by us in Johannesburg - no shipping things overseas. Wear items (wheels, grip tape, belts, bearings) are excluded, as is crash or water damage.
Can I return a board if I change my mind?
For online purchases, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you a 7-day cooling-off period from delivery: return the board unused, in its original packaging, and we refund the purchase price (return courier is for your account). Once a board has been ridden outdoors it can't be returned as a change-of-mind.
What happens if my board arrives damaged?
Photograph the box and board before anything else and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. Transit damage is claimed against the courier and we'll swap or repair - you won't be left carrying that risk.
Do you repair boards out of warranty?
Yes - we stock wheels, belts, remotes and common spares in Johannesburg and can quote on out-of-warranty repairs for any board we sell. WhatsApp us photos and a description first.
