Journ-E is a South African electric skateboard brand from BG Brothers Tech - started by two brothers who believed SA riders deserved properly-specced boards with local stock and local support.
Why Journ-E exists
Journ-E was born in Johannesburg, inside BG Brothers Tech - a young South African e-commerce and tech venture built on real, hands-on experience selling and shipping products to SA customers.
Looking at the local electric skateboard market, the gap was obvious: on one side, cheap boards that felt like toys; on the other, imported premium brands priced out of reach for most riders - often with no local stock, and no SA support. Even more so, there are plenty of shady websites to buy electric boards overseas, shipped to South Africa. However, the prices are unreasonable, and out of reach for most South Africans.
So we built our own lineup and specced it for South Africa, electric skateboards and E-sporting goods tailored for South Africa: SA Type M chargers in every box, honest range and load ratings, clear safety guidance, and stock that ships locally by courier. The fleet launched with the Nova, Phantom, Spartan and Relentless - plus the guest-brand DNASkate V4 - first on Takealot, and now here on our own store.
Journ-E provides a platform for the skateboarding community - to get their hands on affordable, honest and local electric skateboards, to conquer the Durban and Cape Town promenades, the rural roads and the metro cities.

The gap
Scouting the SA e-skate scene reveals a hole in the middle of the market: proper performance boards, at honest prices, with local stock and local support, simply didn't exist.

The build
It started with the Origins - the first board we brought to market. From there the fleet took shape: the Nova, the silent Phantom, the long-range Spartan, the all-terrain Apex and the relentless flagship that shares its name. Hours and hours of research was conducted to spec out and define each board's requirements and custom Journ-E deck art.
