Heavier riders, steep gradients, rough surfaces and repeated hard acceleration may reduce speed, range and battery duration.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Electric skateboards are high-performance recreational products and may cause serious injury if used incorrectly.
Always wear a certified helmet, knee protection, elbow protection and wrist guards. New and inexperienced riders should begin using the lowest available speed setting and practise acceleration, turning and braking in a safe, open and traffic-free environment.
Do not ride in rain, through water, on wet surfaces, in heavy traffic or on roads where electric skateboards are prohibited. Avoid loose gravel, potholes, steep gradients and unsafe terrain.
Children, teenagers and inexperienced riders must be supervised by a responsible adult. Riders must operate the product responsibly and comply with all applicable local laws and regulations.

I absolutely ADORE my new Journ-E electric skateboard!! I honestly cannot put into words how incredible this experience has been!
This board has given me a sense of freedom and movement I've never experienced before. There's something truly magical about effortlessly gliding along, feeling the wind in your face and having the freedom to explore. It's an absolutely AMAZING feeling!
I also cannot praise the Journ-E team enough! Their professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail were outstanding from beginning to end. They helped me choose the right board for my needs and guided me through the entire process. Initially I felt a bit skeptical, but they made me feel confident and genuinely excited about my purchase. My board arrived in less than three days, beautifully and securely packaged, and everything about the experience felt premium. You can genuinely tell that these guys care about their customers and the products they're selling.
And the board itself? JUST WOW!!! It's powerful, sturdy, beautifully designed and an absolute pleasure to ride!
One of my favourite experiences was taking my two beautiful dogs to James & Ethel Gray Park in Johannesburg. While they were happily running around, I was cruising alongside them on my Journ-E Origins, effortlessly keeping up and enjoying every second! Usually, I'd be walking behind them, but now I can actually share in their excitement and adventures. Seeing them having the time of their lives while I glided alongside them was just priceless!
It's so much more than an electric skateboard. It's a whole new way to experience the outdoors and turn ordinary moments into unforgettable adventures.

I Love this board, its so smooth and has such an easy learning curve! I will 100% purchase this again without a doubt.

If you expect a boosted board, you will be moderately pleased. The reason is that the maple wood is not as flexible as bamboo, which will limit the turning mobility. Otherwise, besides the logo (removing is pretty easy), it's fast, weighs around 10kg, and 96cm long. The remote is good, a bit more on the sensitive side (heads up). 8/10 I'm 70kg, and the range for me goes up to 14km, but I'm also on sidewalks, not going full speed cause 40kmh is extremely fast.

Without a doubt a value for money purchase, we are 4 men each with a board and we do on average a 12km ride on the Durban Promenade. I weigh 128kg and thought no way this board will take me and its been almost a year and still going strong. Caution this board does 40kmph no problems and if you meet soft sand you have an immediate stop.... Well the board stops not you so wear protection especially a helmet. Definitely looking at buying another 2 boards for some of the ladies now as they love it as well. Awesome to ride. Supplier one thing, where does i get new wheels when the time comes to replace? If you buy one you won't regret it

Bought it for myself as a quick way to go short distances. According to the booklet it goes 20km on a full charge, but its closer to 14km which is still alot. I was doubting that it would be powerful, but was pleasantly surprised with how quick it is. The only bad side to it is how big the logo is.

Heavier than expected and a bit difficult to turn so will require some adjustments but as a first time buy into the E powered things I'm pretty happy with it, I weigh 95kg and it works perfectly fine for me but I agree with the description, the lighter you are the better it will perform so if your over 120kg I don't think this product will meet your expectations, you'll have to find a board with a more powerful output

Is Journ-E a real, local business?
Yes. Journ-E is run by BG Brothers Tech, a registered South African business. Every board ships from our own stock in Johannesburg - nothing is drop-shipped from overseas - and you can WhatsApp the team before or after you buy. We also sell on Takealot.
Is it safe to pay online?
Checkout runs on Shopify's secure, PCI-compliant checkout. Payment is handled by Stitch Express, a South African payment gateway: pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Capitec Pay. You are taken to Stitch to pay and brought straight back to your order. Your card details go to the gateway only - we never see them.
What if it arrives damaged or does not work?
Photograph the box and board, then log a Damaged / Faulty on Arrival ticket on our Returns & Repairs page within 7 days of delivery. On a valid claim we pay the courier both ways, and our technicians in Johannesburg assess it within 3-5 working days of it reaching us.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes - you have a 7-day cooling-off period from delivery. The board must be unused, unridden and complete in its original packaging. Log it on the Returns & Repairs page and we arrange and pay for the collection. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 7-10 working days.
What does the 6-month warranty actually cover?
Manufacturing defects on the motor, ESC/electronics, battery and remote, assessed and handled in Johannesburg - you never ship anything overseas. Normal wear on wheels, grip, belts and bearings is not covered, and neither is riding damage, water exposure or unauthorised modification. Full warranty terms.
Will I really get the range and top speed listed?
Honestly, not always - and we say so. Every top speed we list is a no-load figure (wheels spinning off the ground). Quoted range assumes a 70 kg rider on flat tarmac; your weight, hills, speed mode and cold mornings all reduce it. The range calculator works out the number for you.
Can I get spares and repairs later?
Yes. Wheels, remotes, chargers, grip tape and Relentless belts ship from Johannesburg in 1-3 working days. Out of warranty, our technicians quote upfront and only start work once you approve.
Can I see a board before I buy?
Message us on WhatsApp - when stock and timing line up we can often arrange a demo session in Johannesburg. Every board also has real riding footage on this page and on our YouTube channel.
Do I need a licence to ride it?
No. Electric skateboards are not classed as motor vehicles in South Africa, so there is no licence, registration or insurance requirement. Where you may ride is set by your municipality - parks, estates, promenades and quiet streets are usually fine. Always wear a helmet.
