Two things wear out on an electric skateboard before anything else does, and both of them are cheap: your wheels, and the skin on your hands.
Wheels are the single upgrade that changes the ride most for the least money. Bigger and softer rolls over bad surfaces; smaller and harder rolls faster on good ones. Journ-E boards use several different wheel and hub configurations across the fleet, and a wheel that physically bolts on is not automatically the right wheel for your board's motor and truck geometry — message us with your board model before you order if you are unsure. Note that we stock standard replacement wheels only: no motorised drive wheels, no belt-drive wheels, and not a full spares catalogue for every board. Wheels are customer-fitted, a fifteen-minute job with a skate tool, and there is a paid fitting service if you would rather we did it.
Gloves have the highest ratio of protection to inconvenience of any gear in the sport. Hands hit the ground first — it is reflex, it happens before you have decided anything. A helmet matters more in an absolute sense and you should wear one, but a helmet earns its keep in a rare serious crash while gloves earn theirs in the ordinary low-speed spill every rider has in their first month. Sizes S–XL, and sizes run true.
Everything here ships from Johannesburg with the rest of your order or on its own, countrywide. Full fitment guidance is in the Wheel Lab.
